Practical Shotgun level 1

Description

Practical / Defensive Shotgun class -3.5 hour class limited to 5 students will clear up any misconceptions about the ability and deployment of the shotgun.  Students will learn to effectively operate and fire their shotgun under no stress and high stress situations.  Topics of instruction include shotgun safety and responsibility, recoil control, marksmanship skill development, shooting positions, speed and tactical reloading, malfunction drills, target engagements, threat assessment, and shotgun modifications/accessories.

A combination of lecture, demonstrations, and live fire exercises will be used to teach the proper deployment of the shotgun from point blank to distances out to 25 yards.

Students must provide the following:

• Semi-auto or pump action shotgun
• 5 dummy rounds (appropriate caliber)
• Eye and ear protection
• 10  rounds of buckshot (00, #4, 000, #1 buckshot is fine)
• 25 rounds of practice ammo
• 5 – Rounds of reduced recoil or standard slugs

WARNING:  This class is physically demanding. If you cannot hold your chosen shotgun in a firing position for 30 seconds you are not physically ready for this class.
